Damage done to the Band Room in Marsden, West Yorkshire, caused by a burst pipe.

The Marsden Silver Prize Band Flood Appeal

Key information

In January 2026, devastating flooding at the headquarters of the historic Marsden Silver Prize Band left the building waterlogged and unsafe, destroying treasured sheet music, damaging instruments and causing considerable damage to all three floors of the building.

The flood, caused by a burst pipe, forced the band to abandon the loved space and find a temporary home.

Since then, volunteers, supporters and neighbouring bands have rallied behind the organisation, raising funds and offering rehearsal rooms, storage and practical help.

Determined to reopen the headquarters as a rehearsal space, a new home for Marsden Scout group and a new small concert venue, the community continues working tirelessly to restore this heart of music making in the village
